For this upcoming year, members will have the opportunity to receive awards. These awards are completely optional, and you will still be able to participate in Model UN, even if you don't want to compete for awards.
There are four different categories for awards:
Most Active Member Award
Best Spoken Award
Member Spirit Award
Featured Member
Most Active Member Award:
Members can earn points for various activities they participate in. The member with the most points at the end of the year will receive the Most Active Member Award. There will be one of these awards given.
You can get points by completing various activities which each have their respective point values.
Here is a complete list of all activities and their assigned point values. At the end of each month, the secretary will update a spreadsheet including each member and the points they have earned. The totals will be added up, and the sheet will be ordered with the member with the most points at the top. If there is a tie, those members will occupy the same rank.
Best Spoken Award:
Any time we have any speaking activities, we will evaluate how effective your speeches are. These speeches include opening speeches and impromptu speeches. There will be one of these awards given.
You will be able to participate and speak in meetings, events, and conferences. For 2020-2021, these events will be primarily virtual.
Member Spirit Award:
This award will be given to the member who brings the most new members to the club. Every time you invite a person to the club, you will be required to fill out this form. We will count each person you invite to the club on this spreadsheet. This will be 60% of the criteria for determining this award.
The other 40% of the criteria for this award is how you interact with officers and other members of the club. A member who is a positive and supportive member of our club will be more likely to receive the Member Spirit Award.
There will be one of these awards given.
Star Member from Each Grade:
This award will be awarded to a member from each grade (9, 10, 11, 12) who we feel embodies the purpose of the United Nations in making our community a better place. We will also consider the member's participation, speaking skills, and overall spirit. This award recipient will be chosen by the officers.
There will be four of these awards given (one for each grade).
